14mm Dorset Linen thread black buttons 22 Ligne

Description

The Dorset button was originally made by hand, tightly winding thread around a small wire ring.

The button was very popular in the 17th Century for under wear and shirting, latterly used on bed linen mainly due to the softness of the button and its delicate appearance.

Revived in the 2oth Century these buttons were produced in Birmingham in the 1980s.
