Description
Spruce and Eucalyptus trees are harvested and converted into wood chips. The chips are then processed with a retained organic solvent called N-methyl-morpholine-N-oxide (NMMO). This re-used solution turns the wood chips into a cellulose fibre which is then spun to create a sustainable yarn made from biodegradable wood fibre.
Tencel™ is a brand name of Lenzing which recovers and reuses more than 99% of the organic solvent. Plus, they also recycle and reuse all of the water from the process, creating an almost 100% closed loop production process.
